The Lao Rugby Federation has set the wheels in motion in their aim of obtaining their own little piece of Vientiane. A proposal has been put forth to the Lao Government to develop a piece of the Nong Chanh Sport & Recreation Park located on Khuvieng Road next to Khouadin Market. The plans include an international rugby pitch, grandstands, changerooms, garden beautifuication and a club house.
LRF Foreign Relations Advisor, John Biddle, says this is a positive step forward, "To increase the profile of rugby in Laos we realized that we needed to be playing in the middle of Vientiane where the people can see what we are doing on a daily basis. If we are fortunate enough to make this happen at the Nong Chanh site then this will lift the profile of rugby and will benefit both us and the community."
Income from parking at the rugby complex will be donated back into future development of the Nong Chanh Sport & Recreation Park to provide a wide range of facilities for the benefit of all Lao citizens.
