2005 THE 10 Lao youths have succeeded in attending the Korea-ASEAN Future-Oriented Cooperation Project: Youth Exchange programme 2005 held from February 16 to 25 in Seoul under the theme of "the Nature and Heritage of Asia". The Lao young people, who are difference branches of Lao People Revolutionary's Youth Union, led by the Lao People Revolutionary's Youth Union and the ASEAN Department's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There were 120 participants from each ASEAN member countries and 51 Korean students who come from universities in Seoul. The ASEAN member countries consist of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The programme was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and ASEAN Secretary in cooperation with the National Council of youth Organisation in Korea (NCYOK). The programme aimed to as following: strengthen the future-oriented youth cooperative exchange between Korea and ASEAN for friendship consistent in the Asia-Pacific era. To promote the flow of mutual understanding and reliance through exchanges between youth who will play the leading role in the near future, and to explore their proper role in global society. To cultivate community awareness in future leaders of our global society through mutual trust and friendship between youth of Korea and ASEAN. To provide better knowledge of the history, culture, and society of Korea to youths of ASEAN providing a form foundation for mutual understanding and goodwill between Korea and ASEAN members. At the opening ceremony, the President of National Council of youth Organsation in Korea said that this project would provide a great opportunity for the participants from ASEAN member countries and Korea to gather together and build a foundation for friendship and mutual understanding in a festive atmosphere. This programme demonstrated truly meaningful, created the opportunities for the youth and mass public from Korea as well as from ASEAN countries to exchange views, visions and perspectives on present and future worldwide development, particularly strengthening the friendship, peaceful and cooperative relations between youth of Korea and ASEAN. This statement was a congratulatory message of Thongsavath Praseuth, Ambassador of Laos in Seoul. Lao youth delegation discussed and exchanged idea under theme of heritage and the socio-economic development and culture in term of sustainable. Lao youth delegation also visited cultural places of Korea such as Odae National Park (Woljeong temple) Gyeong-bok Palace and watched Korean Traditional Cultural Art performance. During 10 days we made friends with Korean students, shared ideas, played games, cooking, and exhibition, cultural performing and selling handicraft items to earn money for contributing fund to tsunami victims. All participants heard a lecture on the conservation of cultural heritage in Asia, lectured by Professor Lee Young-Jo, the Editorial Boards of Journal of Asia-Pacific Studies International Studies Review. I am a youth, representing from the Ministry of Culture and Information, I was impressed in this programme because this progromme made me to get new experiences such as how to live together with other new friends, cultural exchange, sodality, team work and ski playing.
