Young players from Laos cruised into Brunei Darussalam with confidence yesterday afternoon promising to give a good fight as well as try their best to win the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy for Under-21 Asean Youth Football Championship.
Its manager said they are up against good teams as well as the home team but refused to give up the title without a fight.
"We come here to win and nothing else. That's what my boys have been told. They will play any game to win, not to settle for draw or even think about losing any game," said the manager.
Laos will be facing the fire-power and fighting spirit of Brunei youth players in the second match which will be backed by thousands of local fans, thanks to the home advantage.
The game will take place at 8.45 pm tomorrow after the official opening ceremony at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
Earlier on, at 4 pm, Myanmar will meet Singapore at Berakas Sports Complex.
Thailand arrived about half an hour after the arrival of the Laos team yesterday. The rest of the foreign teams have also arrived by early this morning with Philippines being the last team to arrive for the tournament at 1 am.
Laos is paired with Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar and Singapore. Cambodia which were also in the same group had pulled out of the tournament proper.
The other group saw defending champions Indonesia being paired with Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand.
The final will be held at 8.15 pm on Friday March 25 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
