The Laos U-13 national team EEwill square off against Vietnam today in Group F of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-13 Festival of Football at the Vientiane National Stadium. The organising committee has allowed the host country to enter two teams in the event. Matches are scheduled every day until April 5, after which there will be a day of special activities for the players, such as skills demonstrations. This is first time that junior Lao footballers will play against foreign teams and it provides them with the chance to improve their skills and tactics before entering the youth and senior national teams. The U-13 Festival of Football aims to promote the game of football among young players around Asia. The AFC has divided the teams into regional groups, so similar competitions are taking place in other areas of Asia. The Laos Football Federation has also scheduled a course for referees and coaches during the festival. The refereeing course started on March 27 and will end on April 6, attended by 20 Laos referees and one each from Singapore and Myanmar. The C License Coaching course is being attended by two coaches from Myanmar and 21 from Laos, instructed by an AFC instructor. This course began on March 24 and will finish on April 4. Both courses take place at the Vientiane National Football Training Centre. Source: www.the-afc.com/english/media/default.asp?mnaction=news&action=details&newsID=2320
