Thailand, Laos to have ferry link in 2005
Thailand and Laos will have a ferry link between the two sisters' countries for the first time this year, according to the Thai News Agency Friday.
Laos has started constructing structures for the ferry link between Laos' Khammuon Province and Thailand's northeastern province of Nakhon Phanom.
The Ministry of Transport of the two countries signed an agreement on the project recently.
The project, estimated to cost 64 million baht (1.62 million US dollars), is financially supported by the Thai government.
The ferry link across the Mekong River is scheduled to be opened in late 2005.
