He said that every year, the 1,000 students who graduate from upper secondary school either stop schooling or move to the Capital for further education. In order to meet the growing demand for tertiary education, he said the local authority is seriously considering building a university right in the province. This is in line with the province's aim to develop its human resources. Today, Savannakhet has two vocational institutes that offer training in 152 fields. According to Mr Soukaseum, the per capita income of Savannakhet is currently US$ 250 and he believes that it will increase to US$409 in the near future. um.... the vice governor said "the province [savannakhet] is ready to offer tertiary education"... but does anybody know where the budget comes from? Do they have well-prepared (academically and skill-wise) teachers/professors? We don't even have enough professors for the the only university that we have now...
