DESPITE tighter traffic control, accidents along roads in Vientiane Capital are still on the rise.
Vientiane Traffic Police Division disclosed that there were 30 accidents between 14 to 20 March. The Police added that 37 people were injured, while four seriously injured in these accidents.
The majority of the accidents involved motorcycles. The estimated damage to property was 195 million kip.
The Traffic Police urged road users to follow traffic rules strictly and to always check their vehicles before driving to ensure that the engines are in good working condition.
In view of the upcoming Lao New Year, the Traffic Police would like to advice the public to be particularly careful when driving on the road.
