Vientiane (VNA) - The French government has granted 1.5 million Euros to Laos's project to establish agricultural production data and research on new projects.
An agreement to this effect was signed in Vientiane on Mar. 29 by Lao Deputy Foreign Minister Phongsavath Boupha and Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) Etienne Woitellier.
Of the aid, 1 million Euros will be spent on the project to establish data, which will help boost the production of agro-forestry goods for export such as rice, fruit, coffee, tea and local specialties from northern Laos. The remainder will go to a project to study and survey a 9km railway and the development of a water supply system in Vientiane.
Also the same day, aid worth 41,000 USD from Belgium was presented to the Lao International Relations Institute in order to provide training for diplomatic officials in the 2005-08 period.--Enditem
