43 socio-economic projects approved in Vientiane Capital THE Government has allocated 310,000 million kip (or USD 31,000) for 43 socio-economic projects to be carried out in Vientiane Capital. Of the 43 projects, 29 projects valued at 12,552.10 million kip (or USD 12,000) have been completed. The Government contributed 22,000 million kip (or USD 22,000), while non-governmental organisations contributed 288,484.47 million kip (or USD 28,000) for all the projects. The projects come under the charge of various organisations. Two of them belong to the Agriculture and Forestry Sector. These two projects are valued at 525 million kip (or USD 5,000). Eight other projects, valued at 520 million come under the Ministry of Communication, Transport, Post and Construction. Another 23 projects valued at 18,924.34 million kip (or USD 18,000) come under the charge of the Vientiane Urban Development Agency. Education sector is taking charge of five projects valued at 1,045.66 million kip (or USD 10,000) and the rest are worth 700 million kip (or USD 7,000). On the other hand, there were 27 foreign-invested projects in Vientiane Capital in the first half of this year, worth a total of USD 12,916,000. In addition, there are still 59 projects worth US$75,501,486 awaiting approval from the government. The progress of these projects were reported by Vientiane Deputy Mayor Dr Sinlavong khoudphaithoun at the National Assembly Ordinary Session recently.
