Vientiane Capital to have sufficient water supply in 2010 BY 2010, everyone in Vientiane capital will get water supply at the turn of the tap. On 30 May, the Ministry of Communication, Transport, Post and Construction (CTPC) and JICA signed an agreement on the water supply development project. At present, the Dongmarkkhay Project is able to produce 20,000 m3 of water supply to the northern ThaNgone industrial area. The project managers hope to expand the plant to produce 40,000 m3 of water per day. The other project will see the renovation of a water pump station. When completed, the two projects are expected to supply 160,000m3 per day in 2010. Japan supported this project with 2,897 million yen and the Lao Government contributed USD 360,000.
