One more hotel added to Vientiane capitalfs tourism map
By Kongkeo
YET another hotel has opened its doors in anticipation of the rising number of tourists in Vientiane capital.
After a year of construction, Bouasavanh Hotel, located in Ban Nongbuathong Neua in Sikhottabong district, finally was ready to welcome its first guest. Hotel owner Mr Anphavan Suthammavong told KPL News that he built the hotel with a loan from his cousin, who is currently residing overseas.
According to Mr Anphavan, he had hastened the construction of this hotel because he wanted it to be ready before the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, scheduled to be held in Vientiane capital end-July.
He admitted that running a hotel is hard work. gAs we are new, many people do not know about us. There are also many hotels in Vientiane capital, so it is a very competitive business,h said Mr Anphavan.
As such, Mr Anphavan spent a considerable sum of money for publicity purposes. He printed coloured brochures to publicise his hotelfs facilities, which he distributed at markets, supermarkets and Internet cafes. His hard work seems to have paid off, because today, about eight out of the 19 rooms are taken.
Mr Anphavan said his hotelfs main draws are its cleanliness and modern facilities. Each room comes fully furnished with TV, air-con, and telephone. Guests are also free to use the swimming pool for free, dine at the restaurant, and use the function room for weddings or birthday parties.
Mr Anphavan said: gOur restaurant serves many different kinds of foods, catering to all tastebuds. We have Lao, Thai, European and Chinese food.h
Mr Anphavan acknowledged that his hotel might be inconvenient because it is located away from town. Still, he said that his hotel is value-for-money at 500 Baht (USD 12) for a twin room and 1,000 Baht for a double room.
Mr Anphavan currently employs 13 people, including two receptionists, three chefs, two staff for swimming pool maintenance and six guest relations staff.
