Tourism number up in Vientiane Capital
VIENTIANE Capital welcomed 544,000 tourists last year, and the National Tourism Authority (NTA) expects tourist number to hit 600,000 this year.
At present, there are 46 hotels, 136 guesthouses, 59 restaurants and 36 main tourism sites in the capital. Altogether, the tourism sector employs 3,500 workers and brings in about 210 billion kip of investment dollar.
Mr Khamkhoune Baylaty from NTA said that the tourism sector is gearing up effort to publicise Vientiane Capital as a top tourist destination in the region. NTA is currently sourcing for funding for its projects.
