Sunburst Youth Camp 2004 in Singapore
Ten students, who have shown outstanding performance in their study and work, from Laos had been selected to take part in the Sunburst Youth Camp 2004 in Singapore.
It will be held at the RELC International Hotel from December 13-21. Accompanying them will be a journalist and six alumni members of the annual camp from UBD and ITB.
The camp will bring together students from Asean member countries, China, India and United Kingdom.
Among the many events scheduled to take place are educational visits, cultural nights as well as seminars, where students will present a ten-minute presentation on their respective countries, followed by a five-minute Q&A session.
The Sunburst Youth Camp is part of Singapore Technology Endowment Programme (STEP), which aims to support educational opportunities for youths and children in different regions. This will ensure that they will enhance their understanding and friendship across ethnic, cultural and national borders.
The camp also hopes to enhance participants' appreciation of different cultures within the Asean region and provide interaction and the exchange of information to help foster closer working relations among Asean youths.
Individuals, teams or organisations that 'go that extra mile' in helping children as well as youths to learn and share life-long skills will be given recognition of excellence at the annual event, according to the students representing Brunei at the youth camp.
Among the highlights during their stay in Singapore will be visits to the National University of Singapore and the Science Centre.
