World religious council members visit Laos

Vientiane (VNA) - A delegation of the World Council on Religion and Peace (WCRP) led by its secretary-general, Kim Sung-gon, has visited Laos to dicuss the possibility of forming a religious council for peace in the country.
During its stay, the delegation met with Vice President of the Lao Front for National Construction Sihorne Bannavong, who briefed the guests on religious beliefs and activities of various sects and groups throughout the country.
The two sides also exchanged views on a new role of the WCRP in international affairs. The visiting delegation also invited Lao delegates to attend the eighth conference of international religion organisations scheduled for Tokyo in August 2006.-Enditem
